A Vision for Daniel Webster Elementary

Located in sunny Potrero Hill, we are proud to feature a growing Dual Spanish Immersion Pathway with classes in Kindergarten through 2nd Grade (2010) and an English Language Development Pathway showing rising test scores. Come be a part of our growing community!

As our motto says, we are “Learning Together.” We strive each day to create a cohesive, cooperative environment that celebrates our diversity. We want our students to graduate from Daniel Webster with not only academic excellence and a love of learning but with respect for themselves and the many rich cultures that make up our world. We start each day with a whole school morning circle. Teachers, staff, families and community members, and even students and teachers from our own preschool, Potrero Kids at Daniel Webster join us to start the day at our morning circle. After Principal Machado's announcements and the pledge of allegiance, some mornings a teacher leads us in a few minutes of exercise to wake up and energize our brains for our day at school. Some mornings we cheer for fellow students who receive "white tickets" for random acts of kindness, or we hope that our class is selected for the Golden Trash Can Award - given to the cleanest classroom each week. And some times a class will do a special song or be chosen to lead us in our school pledge:

"Today I pledge to be
The best possible me.
No matter how good I am
I promise that I can become better!”

Before we head to class, we shout out, loud and proud, “Enjoy your day of learning!”

Faculty and Staff

Daniel Webster has a small but dedicated staff of administrators and teachers with combined experience and wisdom of more than 94 years in the classroom. Grade level instructors work in teams to insure academic parity among classrooms, share resources and ideas and support one another in their goals to help our students achieve their potential. We will soon be adding professional information on our individual teachers and staff.

Parental Involvement

There are many ways to get involved at Daniel Webster, big and small. Parents family members and caregivers are all welcomed, and will find a variety of opportunities to volunteer. Being an active participant in your child’s education is one way to ensure his or her success in school.

Volunteer

Parent volunteers are welcome in the classroom, on field trips and even helping out administratively. To volunteer at the school please contact Parent-Liaison, Summer Miranda. We’re sure she can find a way to put you to work!

Parent-Teacher Association (PTA)

We encourage and invite all parents and community members to join the PTA. You can read more about our growing PTA here. By joining and attending monthly meetings, you will be a part of school-wide decisions that affect your child’s education and get to know staff and other families.

School Site Council(SSC)/English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC)

Elections are held in the Fall for parent representatives to these two groups. These groups make budgetary and policy decisions affecting the whole school.
