A Vision for Daniel Webster Elementary
Located in sunny Potrero Hill, we are proud to feature a growing Dual Spanish Immersion Pathway with classes in Kindergarten through 3rd Grade (2011/2012) and an English Language Development Pathway showing rising test scores. Come be a part of our growing community!
As our motto says, we are “Learning Together.” We strive each day to create a cohesive, cooperative environment that celebrates our diversity. We want our students to graduate from Daniel Webster with not only academic excellence and a love of learning but with respect for themselves and the many rich cultures that make up our world. We start each day with a whole school morning circle. Teachers, staff, families and community members, and even students and teachers from our own preschool, Potrero Kids at Daniel Webster join us to start the day at our morning circle. After Principal Machado's announcements and the pledge of allegiance, some mornings a teacher leads us in a few minutes of exercise to wake up and energize our brains for our day at school. Some mornings we cheer for fellow students who receive "white tickets" for random acts of kindness, or we hope that our class is selected for the Golden Trash Can Award - given to the cleanest classroom each week. And some times a class will do a special song or be chosen to lead us in our school pledge:
"Today I pledge to be the best possible me. No matter how good I am I promise that I can become better!”
Before we head to class, we shout out, loud and proud, “Enjoy your day of learning!”
Faculty and Staff
Daniel Webster has a small but dedicated staff of administrators and teachers with combined experience and wisdom of more than 94 years in the classroom. Grade level instructors work in teams to insure academic parity among classrooms, share resources and ideas and support one another in their goals to help our students achieve their potential.

Daniel Webster Listservs
We have two listservs that our school uses as discussion forums for parents, teachers and staff.
dwschool@yahoogroups.com The dwschool group has teachers, parents, and staff and is for posting school events and other school-related topics. It is also where we maintain a calendar of school events. All members are able and encouraged to post relevant events to the dwschool calendar.
dwparents@yahoogroups.com The dwparents group is for parents only. Use this group to have more detailed discussions of school-related topics such as after school sports, summer camp, good books/learning resources and anything of interest to the other parents.
Both yahoo groups were created by parents, are moderated by parents, and are not official communication channels of the school. Official communications from school administration come via US Mail, telephone, or are sent home with your child on Wednesdays.
To sign up: Go to http://yahoogroups.com, search for dwschool and dwparents and select “Join This Group”. Please identify yourself as a parent of a DW student.
